ECDC Dancers

Before NiyaKelis, was born she heard the beat of music.  Inside her mother's womb she drummed to the rhythm of Stevie Wonder, Jill Scott and many others musical greats.  At such a young age, her parents were unaware of the grasp music's trance would have on her.

Since NiyaKelis could walk, she was always the life of the party whenever music was played. After a brief stint with gymnastics, her parents enrolled her in ballet for two years. But her love for hip hop, that was deeply rooted due to the exposure of her family's love for music, was very much evident. So it was only right that NiyaKelis found a home at Extravadance Competitive Dance Company (ECDC).  After trying out for the ECDC Hip Hop team at the age of six, she became the team's youngest member.  Under the leadership of the ECDC owner, Crystal Thompson, NiyaKelis' passion was realized.

Now entering her third season with ECDC, NiyaKelis is ready to step her game up to the next level.  Her hard work and dedication is at a new level.

Diamonds dance experience has been a long journey, she started when she was in the first grade dancing at foundation of dance ballet, but ended up quitting just because ballet wasn't for her. When she got older, she would stay up late just listening to music and making up her own choreography. When Diamond heard from one of her mothers friends that there was a hip-hop competition team out in laurel she had to go and audition.

Diamond was very nervous during the audition, but something just told her to push herself and go for it.  She then landed a spot on the ExtravaDance hip-hop competition team, which she has been a part of for almost 5 years now. Being on a dance team has helped her grow physically, socially, and mentally.

Dancing has also improved her team work and leadership skills. Diamond never used to think of dance being anything more than a hobby, but with my many years of training and dedication, Diamond can't think of anything else to be in life other than a dancer. She feels that if she continues on this path of hard work, then she can make this his future.
